The GROB G109B is a two-seat motorglider with T-type stabilizer, fixed gear and airbrakes. It is classified TMG. It was designed by Burkhart Grob GmbH. It is a side by side seating with a classical undercarriage with a steerable tailwheel. Fuselage and wings are made of industrial carbon-fiber and glass-fiber composites.

G109B was built from 1983 untill 1990. The Royal Air Force has ordered the last 54 of them, the Vigilant MK 1, for training of their cadets.

The engine is made by Grob, the GR 2500. It's an aircooled 4 stroke flat engine. 100LL AVGAS or automobile 98 octane leaded fuel can be used.

The G109B is famous for its aerodynamic performances and ergonomically designed cockpit. It is easy to handle, good natured and has a respectable manoeuverability. It banks very gently without spinning. G109B pilots enjoy flying in confort with glider like visibility and side by side seating.

In 1983 the G109 has extended the World altitude record to 6406m (21018ft) and the World altitude gain to 5042m (16544ft).
